Military Salaries in Lebanon Lead Yarzeh Preparatory Meeting Ahead of Key Session
A preparatory meeting was held in Yarzeh to discuss ways to improve military salaries in Lebanon, bringing together government officials, financial experts, and security representatives ahead of an upcoming session expected to outline practical options to ease mounting living pressures.
The meeting was hosted by Defense Minister Michel Menassa, with Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar in attendance, alongside Banque du Liban Deputy Governor Dr.
Makram Bou Nassar and a group of Lebanese Army and Internal Security specialists focused on administrative and financial aspects of military salaries for both active-duty personnel and retirees.
Proposals and Funding Options Under Review
Participants reviewed a set of proposals, including potential funding mechanisms and alternative scenarios, assessing their impact on public finances and sustainability.
Officials underlined that addressing military salaries is closely tied to morale and institutional stability across Lebanon’s military and security bodies.

Menassa and Hajjar emphasized that the salary file is a top priority at this stage, given its direct effect on personnel and operational steadiness.
They called for realistic and fair solutions that match available resources while safeguarding service members’ rights.
